Information on the village of Ednam, near Kelso in Scotland.
Name - Situated on the River Eden, its name comes from the 'ham' or settlement on the Eden. It is reputed to be the first ever named parish, created in the 12th century as part of the monarch's attempts to get his 'devolved management' to the local populace into effect. Graveyard Record - Recorded as Vol XII of the Roxburghshire Monumental Inscriptions by the Borders Family History Society. ( Available from McGregor's Scottish Borders Books, Kelso (01573 225309))
