History of Ednam

Ednam Village

Name - Situated on the River Eden, its name comes from the 'ham' or settlement on the Eden. It is reputed to be the first ever named parish, created in the 12th century as part of the monarch's attempts to get his 'devolved management' to the local populace into effect.
